Bio

Timpano Drake is a bassist, guitarist, and composer born in Vigo, Spain, in 1989. Currently based in Cologne, Germany, he has been an active and prolific musician since 2010, performing live and contributing to numerous recordings. He has collaborated with projects such as Pao Kollektiv, Franks Nachbarn, Tzatziken, Yottagon, DÈЛIYA, and Die Verbotene Abteilung.

Largely self-taught for most of his life, he pursued formal studies in Musicology in 2009 at the UAM in Madrid, 2012 Musicology/Media Culture Studies at the University of Cologne before enroling 2019 on Jazz Arrangement and Composition at Hochschule Osnabrück.

Timpano Drake is known as a musician for his energetic playing, which navigates a path between punk, rock, and jazz. A distinctive aspect of his style is his extensive use of effect pedals, reflecting his deep interest in sound design within compositions. This eclecticism is also evident in his compositions as well as in the numerous projects he is involved in.

He also works as a professional music educator, both freelance and with music schools, teaching bass and guitar with a special focus on jazz, composition, and arrangement, as well as band coaching.
